Our Mission.

We are committed to the advocacy, education, and services for LGBTQIA+ individuals. We empower through networking, promoting diversity, and community outreach. Our aims are improving self-worth, opportunity, and safety for LGBTQIA+ youth and adults.

The Story.

House of Prism, Inc. was co-founded by three friends who noticed a need for LGBTQIA+ advocacy, education, and services in the city of St. Augustine. The groundwork began when safe spaces were created for adults to gather to form community and make new friends. From there we evolved into a group of volunteers that formed an annual teen dance party after discovering the lack of LGBTQIA+ representation in public schools. We started to get more well known in St. Augustine for our advocacy work and decided to move the house into an official non-profit status in 2020.

Future Goals.

We now plan to make the house into a physical LGBTQIA+ resource center in St. Augustine that will provide a queer library, safe meeting space, education courses, and distribution of safer sex products. A building the community can gather to create art, politically organize, and network. Our vision in the first city doesn’t stop there. We have committed to opening a home for LGBTQIA+ kids who are in the foster care system. We will create an environment where they can be safe in establishing their identity and provide them with supports to grow into successful adults.
