STA Safe

Creating Safe Spaces in St. Augustine

What.

STA Safe is an initiative to create gathering places where LGBTQIA+ people can be supported, accepted, and not have to worry about the threat of discrimination or violence. This is a collaboration with local commerce to help provide the tools necessary to embrace inclusivity and cultural competence within their business establishments.

Why.

When a company consults with House of Prism they learn that the education around queer issues will yield higher foot traffic, increases safety, and boosts employee confidence. When queer people shop, especially trans folx, they want to feel comfortable. By utilizing our training your company will learn how to develop a safe environment for queers while also building on their confidence.

How.

Our directors will arrange a consult that is a brief training curriculum on LGBTQIA+ issues. This will include strategy on how to create a safe environment, build customer rapport, and risk involved with queer advocacy. Upon completion you will receive our certified sticker to welcome LGBTQIA+ people on your window and be added to our commerce collective of allyship.

"A safe space is where you just know that you're going to be treated equally; it means you have the same access and freedom and feeling as anyone else."
